The Eamon Cannon Comedy Fund provides comedy scholarships to under-served youth. It is is a project of Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization, Tax ID (EIN) 46-1323531.

This is to honor of the memory of Eamon Cannon, a comic prodigy who launched a brilliant career in stand-up comedy while still in high school and who taught, mentored in Comedy Playground and deeply affected many young people. In 2008 Eamon Cannon Comedy Project was created to extend his work and achievements to other high school and middle school students. The project was piloted as a Stand up and Improv class at Olympic High School in Santa Monica from February 2008 to April 2009 with demonstrable success and acclaim, and then into Inner-City Arts, located on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles for over 15 years, as well as Heart of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Youth Network, YMCA of Santa Monica, Boys & Girls Clubs of Hoboken, Boys & Girls Club of Jersey City, until 2021.  

The Eamon Cannon Comedy Scholarship Fund was established in January 2023, providing students in middle and high school within the greater Los Angeles area, the opportunity to participate in Comedy Playground and additional continuing comedy programs. Applicants are awarded partial and full scholarships twice a year, and qualifying students grades 6-12 are encouraged to apply.

ECCF Mission:

To provide students of the inner city the opportunity to express, enhance critical thinking, expository writing, and performance, within the platform of comedy.

Recipients:

Youth ages 10-19 attending public school impacted by low income and at risk environments within the city of Los Angeles.

How to Apply:

Applications are available for programs in person and on zoom with Comedy Playground. Support toward additional opportunities within secondary comedy programs for continued learning, are also welcomed and reviewed upon submission.
